Born on March 28, 1940, in Union, South Carolina, James was a beacon of love, wisdom, and resilience to all who knew him. James was the cherished son of Jeffrey and Anna Lipscomb, who instilled in him the values of hard work, integrity, and kindness. He grew up alongside his siblings, Kenneth and Sharon, who have preceded him in death, leaving behind a rich tapestry of memories woven with laughter, shared dreams, and unyielding family bonds. A devoted father, James leaves behind a legacy of love through his sons: James Lipscomb Jr., residing in New York, NY; William Lipscomb of Atlanta, GA; and Yazzy Lipscomb of Jonesville, SC. He was a guiding light and a source of unwavering support to his children, nurturing them with patience and understanding. James's legacy continues through his grandchildren, whom he adored: Devonte Goode Sr. of Boiling Springs, SC; Miranda Lipscomb of Spartanburg, SC; Asia Lipscomb of Atlanta, GA; and Tyson Lipscomb of New York, NY. His love further transcends to his great-grandchildren: Devonte Goode Jr. of Boiling Springs, SC; Kingston Lipscomb and Preston Lipscomb of Atlanta, GA; and Tyesha Lipscomb of New York, NY. Each of them carries forward the values and love that James imparted throughout his life. A man of humility and generosity, James's warmth extended beyond his family to a host of nieces and nephews, scattered across the country, each of whom held a special place in his heart. His life was a testament to the power of kindness and the importance of family, as he always made time for those he loved, offering a listening ear, a word of wisdom, or a jovial laugh to brighten their day. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who enriched James's life with friendship and companionship. A celebration of James Lipscomb's life will take place on June 13, 2026, at 3:30 PM at Carrons Funeral Home, located at 726 Tarboro Street, Wilson, NC 27893.
