James L. Farley, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026, at UPMC Divine Providence in Williamsport, PA. Born on August 1, 1945, in West Milton, PA, James was a beacon of strength and resilience, touching the lives of everyone he met with warmth and kindness.
James was the beloved son of Walter and Leotta Farley. He grew up in West Milton, where he developed a strong foundation of values that guided him throughout his life. A proud graduate of Milton High School in 1964, James went on to forge a remarkable career at West Pharmaceutical in Williamsport, dedicating 42 years of unwavering service marked by hard work, integrity, and an unmatched commitment to excellence.
James shared 32 beautiful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Jan, who stood by his side through every season of life. Together, they raised four wonderful children: Jimmy, Jamie, Josh, and Nicole, who were the light of his life. James was also a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
A man of varied interests, James was a former volunteer firefighter with the White Deer Township and a dedicated baseball coach for the West Milton Newky team. His love for the outdoors was evident in his avid deer hunting trips in Potter County with friends from the Crows Nest Cabin and his family. James cherished the many trout and salmon fishing adventures that filled his days with laughter and camaraderie.
James's heart was as vast as his passions. He found joy in woodworking as a hobbyist, and his love for Penn State football was legendary, with numerous cherished memories made at Beaver Stadium. He found peace and satisfaction in the simplicity of cutting and splitting firewood, a task that brought him closer to nature in the serene surroundings of his log home in Spruce Run.
His fascination with John Deere riding mowers and vintage International and Farmall tractors was known to all, and his trips to the Bloomsburg Fair and Ocean City, MD, were filled with precious moments that will forever remain in the hearts of those who shared them.
James's legacy is one of hard work, dedication, and an unwavering spirit. He exemplified the values of perseverance and success, always leading by example and inspiring those around him to never give up.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the numerous healthcare workers who formed a special bond with James during his time of need, providing him with exceptional care and compassion. A heartfelt thank you is also extended to Randy and Patty Persun for their selfless and relentless support during the past few challenging years.
In accordance with James's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor his life and legacy. As his family and friends gather to celebrate his extraordinary journey, they take comfort in the multitude of memories and the indelible mark he left on their lives.
