James L Cook Ii

July 12, 1967 — April 25, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of James L. Cook II, a cherished husband, brother, and friend, who left this world on April 25, 2026, at the age of 58. Jim passed away peacefully, after a courageous battle with skin cancer complicated by heart failure, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. Born on July 12, 1967, in St. Louis County, Jim was the beloved son of the late James L. and Sandra Cook. He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George and Ann Maher, and his paternal grandparents, Mary I. and Cecil Cook. Though his journey here has ended, his spirit remains in the heart of God, as well as those who knew and loved him. Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Tradena Washington, whom he married on July 15, 2017. Their union was a testament to love and partnership, marked by shared laughter, adventures, and unwavering support. Jim's legacy is also carried on by his dear siblings: sisters Jean August and Jolene Cundiff, and brothers Christopher and Mark Cook, who will deeply miss him. A graduate of Hazelwood Central High School's class of 1986, Jim further pursued his education at Fontbonne University. His career path started before college at Schnucks, where he began as a bagger and later showcased his culinary skills as a cook in various in-store kitchens. His passion for technology also saw him working in computer data for only a few years. Jim was a man of simple joys and profound passions. He found peace and happiness in nature, especially when fishing on family camping trips. His love for cooking was shared with those he held dear, often bringing family and friends together over delicious meals. A true aficionado of science fiction movies and television shows, Jim delighted in the magic of storytelling and the exploration of fantastical worlds. Though Jim did not have children, he was a cherished uncle and friend, touching the lives of many with his kindness and generosity. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jim's life and honor his memory. A service will be held where stories will be shared, tears will be shed, and laughter will echo the joy he brought into the world. Jim's journey on this earth may have come to an end, but his legacy of love and kindness will endure. As we bid farewell, we take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, fishing in the heavenly lakes and watching over us all.
