Born on March 6, 1959, in Shreveport, Louisiana, James was a beloved son, brother, husband, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched all who knew him. James was the cherished son of Willie Mae Kennedy. He was a devoted husband to Shannon Scott Kennedy, whose love and companionship were the cornerstone of his life. James was predeceased by his brother, Ronald Kennedy, and his nephew, Demetrick Kennedy-Curry. He leaves behind a loving family, including his brothers Michael (Ona) Kennedy, Darrell Kennedy, and Robert (Aleatha) Kennedy of Houston, Texas, and his sisters Geraldine Kennedy (Cliffton Sonny) Curry and Joyce Kennedy. He is also survived by a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who will forever cherish his memory. James was a proud alumnus of Natchitoches Central High School, where he formed many lifelong friendships. His sense of duty and patriotism led him to serve in the U.S. Army, a chapter of his life that instilled in him values of discipline and resilience. After his military service, James enjoyed a fulfilling career, ultimately retiring to spend more time with his family and pursue his passions. James was known for his gentle spirit and generous heart. He had an infectious smile and a laugh that could light up any room. His wisdom and guidance were a source of strength for many, and his legacy will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. The family of James Kennedy wishes to express sincere gratitude for the many prayers and support received during this difficult time.
