James Kelley Owens

December 29, 1949 — March 10, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Kelley Owens, who left this world peacefully at his home on March 10, 2026, at the age of 76. James was born on December 29, 1949, in the quaint town of Seneca, South Carolina, to the late James Thomas and Kathlyn Kelley Owens. He carried with him through life the values instilled by his loving parents, who preceded him in passing, along with his beloved wife, Anita (Breaux) Owens, and cherished grandsons, Dustin and Austin Hart. James, affectionately known to his friends and family as "Jimmy," was a man of service, dedication, and warmth. After graduating from Chamblee High School in 1968, he honorably served his country as a proud member of the United States Marine Corps. Following his military service, he devoted over two decades of his life to a career at Norfolk Southern Railway, where his work ethic and positive spirit left an indelible mark on his colleagues. Beyond his professional life, Jimmy was a pillar of his community, serving four terms as Commander of Asa W. Candler Post 65 of The American Legion. His commitment to his fellow veterans and community members was unwavering, and he found joy in fostering camaraderie and support. Jimmy was known far and wide for his quick wit and infectious sense of humor. He had the rare ability to make anyone laugh, brightening the darkest of days with a well-timed joke or a warm smile. His gift for levity brought comfort and joy to all who knew him, and his presence will be deeply missed. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his surviving family: his devoted daughters, Heather (Bill) Hensley of Morganton and Ashley (Randy) Rinehart of Loganville; sister, Kathy Elizabeth Owens of Dunwoody; and his treasured grandchildren, Preston (Karlee) Wysocki of Canton, and Addisen and Channing Rinehart of Loganville. A celebration of Jimmy's life will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, starting with the receiving of family and friends from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Tim Stewart Funeral Home, located at 670 Tom Brewer Road, Loganville, GA 30052. Followed by a Graveside Service at 1:00 p.m. at Hill Haven Memory Gardens, 490 Edmondson Road, Monroe. Pastor Joe Hughes will officiate. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of a life well-lived and a man deeply loved. Please sign the online guest registry at www.stewartfh.com. As we bid farewell to James Kelley Owens, we hold onto the laughter and love he shared so freely. In honoring his memory, let us carry forward his spirit of kindness, service, and humor, keeping him close in our hearts forever.
