James "Jim" Riddle

James "Jim" Riddle, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully departed this world at home, surrounded by the love of his family, on September 2, 2026. Born on June 23, 1954, in Madison, Wisconsin, Jim was the cherished son of David and Irene (Borchardt) Riddle. Jim led a life rich with love, laughter, and dedication. He was a proud graduate of Madison Memorial High School, Class of 1974. His career took shape in his passion for mechanics, working as a devoted auto mechanic at CarX for 28 years before transitioning to Oscar Meyer, where he dedicated 12 years of service before retiring. In 1999, Jim married the love of his life, Rose, on March 20th, embarking on a beautiful journey filled with shared joys and family adventures. Jim's heart was warmed by the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought endless joy to his days. A man of many interests, Jim found peace and happiness in the great outdoors. Whether he was fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, or boating, Jim embraced every moment with enthusiasm. He was also known for his love of playing cards, a pastime where his humor and wit shone brightly. His family fondly remembers him as a great jokester, always able to make everyone feel welcome and at ease. Despite his imposing 6-foot-4 stature, lovingly nicknamed the "Little Man" by Rose, Jim carried a gentle and generous spirit. He was ever ready to lend a hand, whether it was mowing the lawn or helping his son and family with cutting and splitting firewood. Jim's legacy of kindness and humor will be lovingly carried forward by his dear wife, Rose; his son, James "Jayjay" (Jennifer) Riddle; step-daughters, Tonya (Shawn Grass) Danz and Monica (Jason) Houtsinger; and his treasured grandchildren, Tyler, Jimmy, Mia, Becka, RJ, Kaleb, Ethan, Camron, Ady, Mahkya, Kailee, Josh, and Alex. He was further blessed with the joy of one great-grandchild. Jim is also survived by his brother-in-laws, Michael Martin, Rodger Theis, and Billy Esser, and his sister-in-law, Connie Riddle. Jim is now reunited with those who predeceased him, including his parents, David and Irene; his sister, Sharron (Riddle) Martin; his brother, Jeffery Riddle Sr.; his sister, Carrie (Riddle) Theis; and his beloved granddaughter, Krista Riddle. In honor of Jim's memory, the family kindly suggests donations be made to a charity of your choice, celebrating his love for the outdoors and community. Though Jim's physical presence will be deeply missed, his spirit will continue to live on through the laughter, stories, and love shared by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
