It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James "Jim" Anderson, who left us suddenly on February 22, 2026, due to a tragic accident at the University of Alberta Hospital. Jim was 73 years old at the time of his passing, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and love that will be cherished by all who knew him. Born on September 29, 1952, in Edmonton, Alberta, Jim was the beloved son of Mildred "Millie" and Brock Anderson. He grew up with his brothers, Ernie and George, who have predeceased him, along with his cherished grandson Hunter and brother-in-law Dennis Crotty. Now reunited with his family in the afterlife, Jim leaves behind a path of love and affection that will forever be remembered. Jim shared 16 memorable years of marriage with Denise Lynn Anderson, whom he married on December 20, 1980. Although they parted ways after 16 years, their bond of mutual respect and admiration remained strong over the decades. Jim was a devoted father to his sons, Christopher (with Kyla) and Grant, and a beloved grandfather to Chloe (with Shaun), Kassidy, Kylee, Jaxon, and the late Hunter. Jim's family was the core of his existence, and his boundless love for them was evident in every aspect of his life. In his professional life, Jim was admired for his dedication and integrity. He was a revered employee at the Edmonton Stockyards until its closure in May 2005. His passion for his work led him to the Viking Auction Market, where he continued to make a difference until his retirement in 2024. Colleagues fondly recall his cheerful demeanor, warm smile, and the everlasting friendships he forged. Jim's life was vibrant and filled with interests that brought joy to him and those around him. He was an avid collector of comic books, hats, and records, and his enthusiasm for the Edmonton Oilers was infectious. His vibrant personality and zest for life were inspiring, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Jim is survived by his cherished wife Denise, his sons Christopher and Grant, his caring sister Rose (with Roger Marcy), nieces Kim Anderson, Terri Wright, Laurie Bascom, Robyn Marcy, and Alexandra Marcy Nephews Richard Marcy and Roy Marcy along with close friends Dwayne, Donald, and Carol Brown. Though his departure has left a void, his memory remains a source of comfort and inspiration. A celebration of Jim's life will take place on April 11, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Viking Auction Market. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Viking Auction Market for their generosity in allowing the use of their facility to honor Jim's memory. As we say a tearful goodbye, we find solace in the words of the Old Irish Blessing: *May the rains sweep gentle across your fields, may the sun warm the land, may every good seed you have planted bear fruit, and late in summer may you find some calming wind.* The family and friends of Jim Anderson wish to express their deepest gratitude for the kindness, prayers, and support extended during this difficult time. Your presence and love have been a source of comfort, and for that, we are eternally grateful. Jim's life was a testament to love and devotion, touching countless hearts with his generous spirit. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
