Obituary of James "Jim" Anderson
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of James "Jim" Anderson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Jim departed this world on February 22, 2026, at the University of Alberta Hospital, at the age of 73, following a tragic accident. His presence will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Jim was born on September 29, 1952, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, to Mildred "Millie" and Brock Anderson. He was welcomed into a loving family and was the youngest brother to Ernie and George Anderson. Jim is now reunited with his predeceased parents, brothers, grandson Hunter, and his brother-in-law Dennis Crotty in eternal rest.
Jim's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and kindness. He shared 16 memorable years of marriage with Denise Lynn Anderson, whom he married on December 20, 1980. Despite their separation, their bond and mutual respect endured over the years. He was a proud and devoted father to his sons, Christopher (Kyla) and Grant Anderson, who inherited his love for life and his remarkable spirit.
As a grandfather, Jim was nothing short of amazing. He cherished his five grandchildren, Chloe (Shaun), Kassidy, Kylee, Jaxon, and his late grandson Hunter, with boundless affection and joy. His legacy of love and warmth will continue to live on through them.
Jim's career was a testament to his dedication and hard work. He spent many years at the Edmonton Stockyards, until its closure in 2005, and later at the Viking Auction Market, where he worked from 2008 until his retirement in 2024. His colleagues and friends remember him as a man of integrity and cheerfulness, always ready with a warm smile and a kind word.
Beyond his professional life, Jim was a man of diverse interests. He was an avid collector of comic books, hats, and records, and a passionate fan of the Edmonton Oilers. His hobbies brought him joy and were a testament to his vibrant personality and zest for life.
Jim leaves behind his cherished wife, Denise; his sons, Christopher and Grant; his sister, Rose (Roger) Marcy; his nieces, Kim Anderson, Terri Wright, Robyn Marcy, Alexandra Marcy, and Laurie Wright; and his dear friends Dwayne, Donald, and Carol Brown. Though his departure leaves a void in their hearts, his memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held on April 11, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Viking Auction Market. The family and friends of James Anderson extend their heartfelt gratitude to Viking Auction Market for their generosity in allowing them the privilege of using their facility for this special occasion.
Jim's life was a testament to the power of love, kindness, and devotion. He touched many lives with his wonderful nature, and his legacy will continue to inspire and guide all those who knew him. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed, yet his spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Jim's memory, as a tribute to his generous and caring spirit.
