James "Jim" Anderson

September 29, 1952 — February 22, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of James "Jim" Anderson, who left us on February 22, 2026, at the age of 73, following a tragic accident at the University of Alberta Hospital. Born on September 29, 1952, in Edmonton, Alberta, Jim was a beacon of warmth and kindness, leaving a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him. Jim was the beloved son of Mildred "Millie" and Brock Anderson, and the youngest sibling to his late brothers, Ernie and George. He is now lovingly reunited with them, his parents, his grandson Hunter, and his brother-in-law Dennis Crotty. Their reunion in the afterlife is a comforting thought for those he has left behind. Though his marriage to Denise Lynn Anderson spanned 16 years, their bond continued in mutual respect and friendship long after their separation. Together, they raised two devoted sons, Christopher (Kyla) and Grant, who were the pride and joy of Jim's life. His love and pride extended to his grandchildren—Chloe (Shaun), Kassidy, Kylee, Jaxon, and the late Hunter—whom he adored and cherished with all his heart. Jim's career was a testament to his dedication and integrity. He spent many fruitful years at the Edmonton Stockyards until its closure in 2005, and then at the Viking Auction Market, where he worked until his retirement in 2024. His colleagues remember him for his unwavering work ethic, his cheerful demeanor, and the warmth of his ever-present smile. Outside of work, Jim was a man of many passions. An avid collector of comic books, hats, and records, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life. His love for the Edmonton Oilers was well known, and he spent countless hours cheering for his favorite team. Jim's vibrant personality and zest for life were infectious, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. Jim's departure is deeply felt by his surviving family: his cherished wife Denise, sons Christopher and Grant, sister Rose (Roger) Marcy, and a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends, including Dwayne, Donald, and Carol Brown. Though his physical presence is no longer with us, his spirit and the beautiful memories he's left behind will continue to be a source of comfort and inspiration. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at the Viking Auction Market on April 11, 2026, at 1:00 PM. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Viking Auction Market for their generosity in hosting this event. As we gather to honor Jim, we hold onto the words of an Old Irish Blessing, a reminder of the gentle, nurturing spirit that he embodied. In this time of sorrow, we thank you for your kindness, prayers, and support. Your love and presence have brought us comfort during this difficult period. James "Jim" Anderson touched many lives with his generous spirit and will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew him.
