September 29, 1952 — February 22, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James "Jim" Anderson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, who left this world unexpectedly on February 22, 2026, at the age of 73. Jim passed away at the University of Alberta Hospital following a tragic accident, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories. Born on September 29, 1952, in Edmonton, Alberta, Jim was the beloved son of Mildred "Millie" and Brock Anderson. The youngest of three sons, he was predeceased by his parents, brothers Ernie and George, grandson Hunter, and brother-in-law Dennis Crotty. Jim is now reunited with them in eternal peace. Jim married Denise Lynn on December 20, 1980, and they shared 16 wonderful years together. Although their paths diverged, their bond remained strong, and they continued to support one another. Jim was a devoted father to his sons, Christopher (Kyla) and Grant, who were the pride and joy of his life. His role as a grandfather to Chloe (Shaun), Kassidy, Kylee, Jaxon, and the late Hunter brought him immense joy and fulfillment. Jim's professional life was marked by dedication and hard work. He began his career at the Edmonton Stockyards in the early 1980s, where he worked until its closure in 2005. In 2008, he joined the Viking Auction Market, where he remained until his retirement in 2024. His colleagues remember him for his integrity, cheerful demeanor, and warm smile that could light up a room. Outside of work, Jim had a passion for collecting comic books, hats, and records. An avid Edmonton Oilers fan, he could often be found cheering for his favorite team with enthusiasm. Jim's vibrant personality and zest for life were infectious, and he had a gift for making those around him feel valued and loved. Jim is survived by his cherished wife Denise, his sons Christopher and Grant, his sister Rose (Roger) Marcy, and his nieces Kim Anderson, Terri Wright, Laurie Bascom, Robyn Marcy and Alexandra Marcy. He also leaves behind close friends Dwayne Brown, Donald Brown, and Carol Brown, all of whom shared a special place in his heart. A celebration of Jim's life will be held on April 11, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Viking Auction Market. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Viking Auction Market for their generosity and for allowing them the privilege of using their facility to honor Jim's memory. In Jim's honor, we share an "Old Irish Blessing" that captures the essence of his spirit: "May the rains sweep gentle across your fields, may the sun warm the land, may every good seed you have planted bear fruit, and late in summer may you find some calming wind." To all who have reached out with kindness, prayers, and support during this difficult time, we offer our deepest gratitude. Your presence and love have provided comfort as we remember Jim, a man whose life exemplified love, generosity, and devotion. He has touched many hearts and will be fondly remembered and deeply missed. Thank you for being a part of Jim's journey and for the love you have shown. May his memory continue to inspire us all.
