James Jane Jack Nick March 1, 1935 - March 2, 2026 With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of James Jane Jack Nick, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who departed this life on March 2, 2026, just one day after celebrating his 91st birthday. He passed away peacefully at his cherished home, surrounded by the love of family, in Austin, Texas. Born on March 1, 1935, in the heart of Austin, James was the beloved son of Jahn and Mary Smith. Although he was predeceased by his grandparents, James carried their legacy of kindness and integrity throughout his life. James was a devoted family man, survived by his loving wife, Mary, with whom he shared a beautiful marriage of over 40 years. James's educational journey took him to Florida, where he pursued university studies with a passion for learning. This foundation paved the way for a successful career at Shell, where he was a dedicated and respected employee. His colleagues remember him as a man of unwavering commitment and integrity, whose work ethic was matched only by his kindness and generosity. James's faith was a cornerstone of his life, and as a longtime member of the Baptist church, he found solace and community in his spiritual pursuits. His church family will fondly remember his warm presence and infectious enthusiasm at every gathering. Outside of his professional and spiritual life, James had a zest for adventure and creativity. He was an avid hiker, often exploring the beautiful trails of Texas, finding peace and inspiration in nature's embrace. His love for cooking was equally profound, and he delighted in sharing meals with family and friends, creating memories as rich and comforting as his culinary creations. James's legacy lives on through his family, including his cherished grandchild and great-grandchild, who will carry forward the values and love he so generously imparted. His family and friends will forever hold dear the memory of his gentle spirit, his unwavering love, and the joy he brought to their lives. A celebration of James's life will be held at his beloved Baptist church, where friends and family will gather to honor the remarkable man he was. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the church or a charity of choice, in memory of James's benevolent heart. As we mourn the loss of James Jane Jack Nick, we also celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and an enduring legacy that will continue to inspire those who knew him. He will be dearly missed, but his spirit will forever illuminate the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
