In Loving Memory

James Hinson
November 19, 1942 — April 4, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of James Hinson on April 4, 2026. Born on November 19, 1942, in the serene town of Kerman, California, James was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, whose presence illuminated the lives of all who knew him.
James was the cherished son of the late Earl and Lea Hinson, whose values he carried with him throughout his life. He was predeceased by his parents, who instilled in him the virtues of kindness and generosity that he shared with the world. James is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara, with whom he shared 44 remarkable years of marriage. Their union, which began on August 26, 1981, in the picturesque setting of South Lake Tahoe, was a tapestry of love and adventure, woven with countless cherished memories.
Together, James and Barbara raised a loving family, blessed with their children Theresa, Robert, James, Ronald, and Scott. James's legacy of warmth and compassion is further carried on by his 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride.
James dedicated 35 years of his life to Southern California Edison as a hydrographer and dam tender, and an additional 20 years to Caltrans as an equipment operator. His work ethic and dedication were unmatched, and he took great pride in his contributions to the community.
Outside of his professional life, James was an avid hunter and found solace in the majestic High Sierras. He reveled in the tranquility of the woods, where he spent countless hours packing horses and immersing himself in nature's beauty. His adventures in the great outdoors were a testament to his adventurous spirit and love for life.
James's warm smile was a beacon of welcome to all who crossed his path. His gift for making everyone feel valued left an indelible mark on the countless lives he touched. His kindness and generosity were the hallmarks of a life lived selflessly, and his legacy will endure in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
A memorial service to celebrate James's extraordinary life will be held on October 3, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Big Creek Clubhouse. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring a man whose life was a testament to love, kindness, and adventure.
In the words of his family, "Jim may be at home with the Lord, but he will never be forgotten and will always be in our hearts." As we bid farewell to James, we hold onto the memories of a life filled with love, laughter, and endless adventures, cherishing the legacy he leaves behind.
