James Herman Young

September 7, 1953 — April 17, 2026

James Herman Young, a cherished brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away on April 17, 2026, at the age of 72, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, after a long and courageous battle with renal and cardio illnesses. Born on September 7, 1953, in Massillon, Ohio, James was the beloved son of the late Thomas Young Sr. and Maudine (Pearson) Young. He is predeceased by his parents, his brother Timothy Young, and his sister Janice Elaine Young. James is survived by his brothers Thomas Young Jr. of Ashville, AL, and Gary Young of Massillon, OH; his sister Rita Marie Young of Minneapolis, MN; his brother Raymond Shamsid-deen Sr. of Saint Paul, MN, who provided much of the support and care James needed during his final years, and his brother Anthony R Young of Menifee, CA. A host of other family members and friends also mourn his passing. James attended a number of schools in Massillon Ohio, Richmond Indiana, and the Minneapolis-St. Paul Minnesota metropolitan area where he laid the foundation for a life marked by curiosity and a passion for learning. Although he worked various jobs throughout his life, he was primarily an entrepreneur, driven by a keen interest in natural and technical scientific programs. His inquisitive nature and love for learning were evident in the lively discussions he often engaged in, sharing his insights and discoveries with those around him. His belief in the various principles of physics and his favorite the Conservation of Energy in that matter can never be destroyed, only transformed into another form; a philosophy that seamlessly blended with his spiritual beliefs in the after-life. Despite never marrying, James found joy in the company of his family and dear friends. His laughter, jokes, and fond reminiscing were a testament to his love for life and the people in it. Music was a constant companion in his life, providing solace and joy, and he often shared this love with those he held dear. James's life was a testament to the power of kindness, humor, and resilience. He was a man who loved deeply and gave generously, always quick to listen and share a story or a piece of wisdom. His presence will be dearly missed by all who knew him. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor James's life and bid farewell to a man whose heart was as expansive as his love for knowledge. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Hennipen County Medical Center in Minneapolis MN, and the Brookview A Villa, located in Golden Valley MN, for their compassionate care during James's illness. Special thanks are given to his brother Raymond Shamsid-deen, whose unwavering support was a pillar of strength for James. In this time of sorrow, we remember James Herman Young not only for the battles he fought but for the love and laughter he shared, the lives he touched, and the legacy of warmth and wisdom he leaves behind. Rest in peace, dear James. Your spirit will continue to inspire and guide us.
