James was the cherished son of the late Bobby L. Johnson Sr. and Christine Johnson. He is predeceased by his beloved nephew, DeEric Crutchfield, and is survived by a devoted and loving family who will continue to honor his memory. His cherished fiancé, Aysun Baglayici, and his children, Janine Johnson (Cesim), Michael Johnson, James Johnson, and Steve Richter (Josephine), were the light of his life. He is also survived by his siblings, Bobby Johnson Jr. (Anetta), Lanetta Crutchfield (Bryan), Matthew Johnson (Vicki), and Mark Johnson. James's legacy is further carried by his grandchildren, Jamil, Ceylon, Shawn, Jordan, Jamira, Gracie, Lemar, Milam, and Aliha, who brought immense joy to his life.
James was a proud graduate of New Boston High School, where he laid the foundation for a life dedicated to service and family. Answering the call to serve, James enlisted in the United States Army in July 1986, demonstrating a profound commitment to his country for a decade. He proudly served in Germany for 10 years and was a valiant participant in the Gulf War, embodying courage and resilience that inspired all who knew him.
An avid sports enthusiast, James found joy in the simple pleasures of life. His love for travel, shopping, and exploring diverse cuisines was only rivaled by the deep affection he held for his family and friends. Known for his candid and straightforward nature, James was a spirited debater, particularly passionate about comparing U.S. and German news. His ability to recall cherished childhood memories with vivid detail was a testament to his thoughtful and caring nature. James’s laughter, warm and inviting, was a source of comfort, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.
