James Edward Tucker Sr.
May 26, 1942 – July 26, 2026
James Edward Tucker Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, was born on May 26, 1942, and embraced eternity on July 26, 2026, at the age of 84.
James lived a life defined by hard work, unwavering devotion to family, a sharp mind, a quick wit, and an adventurous spirit. He had a remarkable ability to make life memorable and approached each day with courage, curiosity, and a determination to live fully.
James was predeceased by his mother, Rosa Bell Tucker; his cherished daughter, Jacqueline Gonzales; his devoted son, Melvin Tucker; and his treasured grandsons, James E. Tucker III and Jamal E. Tucker.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Anita L. Tucker. Together, they built a family grounded in love, laughter, resilience, and countless beautiful memories.
James is also survived by his five sons: James (Theresa) Tucker of Covington, GA; Anthony (Zena) Tucker of McDonough, GA; Marvin (Trisha) Tucker of Spokane, WA; Michael (Nastassja) Tucker of Newport News, VA; and Eric Tucker of Newport News, VA; as well as his stepsons, Troy Stringer and Kennard Stevens.
He was a loving grandfather to 13 grandchildren and a doting great-grandfather to six great-grandchildren. He will also be deeply missed by his close friends, extended family, and the many people whose lives he touched.
James was known for his intelligence, quick wit, strength of character, and willingness to embrace adventure. He loved snorkeling and skydiving—pursuits that reflected his fearless nature and his desire to experience all that life had to offer. He had a special way of turning ordinary moments into extraordinary memories.
His devotion to his family was evident in everything he did. James was a pillar of strength and a steadfast presence for those he loved. That same dedication carried into his professional life, where he was respected as a hardworking and dependable man whose tireless efforts were appreciated by those fortunate enough to work alongside him.
Though we mourn the loss of his physical presence, we celebrate the remarkable life he lived and the lasting legacy he leaves behind. James's intelligence, humor, courage, adventurous spirit, and love for his family will continue to live on through the lives of those who knew and loved him.
His light may no longer shine before us, but it will forever remain in our hearts.
