June 10, 1966 — May 28, 2026

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Edward Gray, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Edward passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026, just shy of his 60th birthday. Born on June 10, 1966, in the town of Gray, Edward was the cherished son of the late Madam Gray and Oliver Gray. Edward is survived by his devoted wife, Leana Gray, with whom he shared a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering partnership. Together, they raised a beautiful family, which was always at the heart of Edward's world. He was a proud and dedicated father to his son, Darrell Gray, and his daughters, Erica Gray, Tabitha Gray, Brittney Gray, Asia Gray, Michelle Gray, and Anita Gray. Edward's legacy of love continues through his 17 treasured grandchildren, who will forever hold his memory close in their hearts. A graduate of Roosevelt High School, Edward cherished the friendships and memories he made during his education. He remained a lifelong learner, always curious and eager to share his knowledge with those around him. Edward found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially spending time with his family. His home was often filled with warmth, laughter, and the aroma of his favorite meals shared with loved ones. Known for his gentle spirit and generous heart, Edward was a great father, a loving husband, a caring brother, and a supportive uncle. His presence brought comfort and joy to those around him, and he had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel valued and understood. Edward's kindness and empathy were matched only by his resilience and strength, qualities that guided him through life's challenges. Edward is predeceased by his beloved parents, Oliver and Vada Gray, his grandparents, Dewy and Beatrice Bozeman, and his dear sister, Pearl Gray. While we mourn their absence, we find solace in knowing they are reunited once more. A celebration of Edward's life will be held on June 5, 2026, at 10:00 AM at McDuffie Funeral Home. We invite all those who were touched by his life to join us in honoring his memory and the remarkable legacy he leaves behind. The family extends their deepest gratitude to all friends, family, and co-workers who have shown unwavering support during this time of grief. Your kindness and love have been a source of comfort and strength. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you cherish your loved ones and hold them close, as Edward did every day of his life. May his spirit continue to inspire us to live with love, compassion, and gratitude.
