In Loving Memory

James Earl Smith Jr.
April 12, 1985 — July 25, 2026
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of James Earl Smith Jr., a cherished son, father, and friend, who left this world on July 25, 2026. James was born on April 12, 1985, in the vibrant coastal city of Galveston, Texas, to his proud parents, James Earl Smith Sr. and Irma Jean James.
James was a beloved member of the LaMarque community, where he spent his formative years. He attended LaMarque High School, where he was not only an enthusiastic student but also a devoted member of the LaMarque Cougars Football Team. His passion for football was evident both on and off the field, and he carried the spirit of teamwork and camaraderie with him throughout his life.
Known for his vibrant personality, James was the life of the party wherever he went. His love for singing was as infectious as his laughter, and he brought joy to all those around him with his melodic voice and joyful presence. Whether he was serenading friends and family or cheering on his favorite team, James's enthusiasm and zest for life were truly unmatched.
James's legacy continues through his son, James Earl Smith III, who was the light of his life and his pride and joy. As a father, James was devoted and loving, always ensuring that his son felt supported and cherished.
As we remember James and the indelible mark he left on our hearts, we are comforted by the memories of the joy and laughter he shared with us all. His absence leaves a profound void, but his spirit will forever remain with those who had the privilege of knowing him.
The family invites those who wish to honor James's memory to consider making a donation to a charity of their choice, as James was a man who believed in giving back and supporting those in need.
James, you will be deeply missed, but your legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew you.
