James Earl Brown, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on April 23, 2026, after a courageous battle with illness. Born on December 24, 1965, in Tallulah, Louisiana, James was a cherished soul whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of many.
James was the son of Evelyn Brown-Peterson and John Reynolds. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Hazel Brown, who he married on July 19, 2004, in the vibrant city of Las Vegas, Nevada. Together, they were known for their active participation in the Mountain Top Church community, sharing their faith and love with those around them.
Throughout his life, James wore many professional hats, having worked as a casino porter, a cook, and in a furniture store. His colleagues remember him as a dedicated and hardworking man, always ready to lend a hand and share a smile.
James had a passion for fishing, playing cards, dominoes, and dancing. His laughter was infectious, and he had a knack for bringing people together, whether through a friendly card game or a lively dance. Known for his generous spirit, James was always willing to help anyone in need, be it moving a piece of furniture or grilling the perfect barbecue.
James leaves behind his two devoted sisters, Yolonda Brown and Doris Peterson; his brother, Olandis Peterson; and his aunts Hazel Brown, Maxine Brown, and Wanda Brown. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. James was predeceased by his brother, Henry Peterson, and his grandparents, Earlen and Tom Brown.
The family is grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time, appreciating the many calls, visits, and prayers.
A celebration of James's life will be held on May 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM at LA Eternidad Funeral Home, located at 4305 N. Rancho Dr, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89130. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the remarkable life of James Earl Brown, remembering the joy he brought to the world and the legacy of kindness he leaves behind.
