James Douglass White
February 4, 1943 — July 3, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and deep respect that we announce the passing of James Douglass White, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left this world on July 3, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on February 4, 1943, in the star-studded city of Hollywood, California, James lived a life full of love, dedication, and integrity.
James was the cherished son of the late William and Jane (Douglass) White. He grew up in a family that valued honesty, hard work, and the simple joys of life. After completing his education at Harlom High School in Rockford, Illinois, James embarked on a career that showcased his commitment to excellence and leadership. He served as a plant manager at Universal Electric before bringing his talents to Peerless Premier Appliances, where he retired after a distinguished career.
In his personal life, James was blessed with a family that he adored. He was married to the love of his life, Judy Elaine (Thurmond) White, until her passing. Together, they raised three wonderful sons, teaching them the values of kindness and resilience. Although predeceased by his wife and one son, Mike White, James's legacy endures through his surviving sons: Matt (Dawn) White of Hernando, MS, and Mark (Sandy) White of Paducah, KY. James was also a devoted grandfather to five grandchildren who were his pride and joy: Evan White, Jessica (Dylan) Crutcher, Lauren White, Dawson White, and Drake White. His sister, Lynne Wickham of Crystal Lake, IL, also survives him, providing comfort and support throughout his life.
James had an unwavering passion for fishing, a pastime that brought him peace and joy. Whether casting a line in a tranquil lake or sharing stories with fellow fishing enthusiasts, James found solace in the gentle embrace of nature. His love for the sport was a reflection of his patient and reflective nature.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate James's life on July 6, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Halls Funeral Home, located at 109 N. Church St., Halls, TN. In honor of James’s generous spirit and his commitment to helping others, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
As we say goodbye to James, we remember him not only for his achievements and passions but for the warmth and kindness he showed to everyone he met. His legacy is one of love, strength, and unwavering dedication to the people he held dear. James Douglass White will be deeply missed, and his memory will forever remain in our hearts.
