In Loving Memory

James Coleman McManus
June 11, 1952 — March 21, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of James Coleman McManus, affectionately known as "Jim" to his friends and family. Jim left us on March 21, 2026, at the age of 73, following a tragic motorcycle accident. Born on June 11, 1952, in Dallas, Texas, Jim's life was a testament to joy, resilience, and an unyielding zest for life.
Jim was a beloved son to Sherman and Dorothy McManus, who welcomed him into the world with open arms and loving hearts. He grew up in a household filled with love and laughter, alongside his brother, Sherman Wayne, and sister, Mary Miller. Though his parents and brother preceded him in death, Jim continued to carry their spirit within him every day.
A devoted family man, Jim was predeceased by his cherished wife, Mamie McManus, with whom he shared many beautiful years of marriage. Together, they raised a loving family who were the center of Jim's world. He is survived by his children, Cindy McManus, Kellie Gallop and her husband Jon, and Jammie Hardin and her husband Gary. Jim was also the proud "Papa" to five wonderful grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to his life.
Jim's love extended beyond his immediate family, touching the lives of countless friends and his beloved sister Mary and her husband David Miller. He was a man who made friends easily, often with a joke on his lips or a playful nudge, ready to share a laugh. His humor and warmth were his trademarks, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.
An enthusiastic motorcyclist, Jim found freedom and solace on his Harley Davidson Tryke, often accompanied by Brandi, his loyal rescue pup, who was his constant companion on and off the road. Jim's passion for the open road and the wind in his hair was emblematic of his free spirit—a spirit that inspired those around him to live life fully and fearlessly.
Jim's passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. While we grieve his loss, we also celebrate the indelible mark he left on our lives. His legacy of laughter, love, and loyalty will forever be cherished and remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In accordance with his family's wishes, a private funeral service will be held to honor Jim's life and legacy. While the gathering will be small, the outpouring of love and support from those who knew him is immense. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a local animal rescue organization, in honor of Jim's love for Brandi and all animals in need.
As we say goodbye to Jim, we remember a life filled with laughter, love, and adventure. Though he has left this world, his spirit will forever ride alongside us, guiding us with the wisdom and joy he so generously shared. Rest in peace, dear Jim, knowing that you were deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
