James Leon Scott

James Leon Scott, lovingly known as Jim, passed away peacefully at home on September 11, 2026, after a courageous battle with ALS. Born on April 18, 1965, in Kirksville, Missouri The son of Donald Leon Scott and Linda Kay (Katie) Glaspie. He grew up in the Kirksville and Des Moines Ia areas, attended Adair Co RRII Brashear through the 10th grade before earning his GED. Jim spent the past 27 years with his love and life partner Lisa Kay Scott along with her three sons Dennis Parrish, Timothy Parrish and Adam Lewis. Jim also gained 12 grandchildren, which he treasured. Together, they stood strong and walked through whatever storm came their way. Jim's illness was one of the toughest, yet they remained together until his last breath. He is survived by his father Don (Teresa) Scott of Arkansas, his mother Linda (Katie) Hill of Kirksville, sisters Tina Thompson and her children Nathan Thompson of Milan Mo and Amy Zrostlik of Ankany Ia. Trudi Davis of Kirksville and her children Laci Stewart of Unionville, Brittany Davis and Trey Russell both of kirksville. Shonna (Kevin) Avery of Des Moines Ia. A brother Don and Angie Scott Jr. and his children Carlin Ingledue and Chasity Shields all of Jefferson South Dakota. Aunts Wanda Vansickel and Christine Sullivan of kirksville as well as numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends. Jim was proceeded in death by his grandparents Lois Scott and Earnest and Wanda Vice. Uncles Roger Williams and Mike Sullivan and cousins Gary and Roger Shrouf. Throughout his life, Jim had a passion for tinkering with cars, spending countless hours in his moms garage, where he found joy in piddling with anything that had an engine. He built a career as a roofer, working for Hettinger Construction and several other companies . Jim loved GOD, his momma, Lisa Kay, heavy leather jackets with full pockets, telling long windy stories, stupid corny jokes, a handful of good candy, a hugh glass of sweet iced tea, kids of all ages, loud music, his dog Summer, a smashed up cigarette and talking to anyone who he came in contact with. The love and care he showed for his friends and loved ones was never ending. Most of all he gave from his heart and was selfless to a fault. Jim's selflessness extended beyond his life, as he arranged for his body to be donated to science for the study of ALS and the effects of prolonged drug abuse. His family honors his wish that all expressions of sympathy or lieu of flowers be sent to ,or dropped by his mother, Linda Hill, at 407 E Missouri St., Kirksville, MO. Scholarships and donations will be made in his name to assist those in need, per his wishes His family wishes to express their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. Jim’s life was a testament to generosity and kindness, and his memory will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
