James C. Vinesett, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home on July 16, 2026, with his devoted wife Elida and cherished son Richard by his side. Born on May 22, 1941, in Gaffney, South Carolina, James lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to family and community. James was the loving son of Blaine and Lona Vinesett, and brother to Ray, Daisy, Doris, Betty, Pat, and Frances, all of whom predeceased him. He leaves behind his beloved spouse, Elida, with whom he shared many happy years. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Denise and Richard, who were the light of his life. His legacy lives on through his five grandchildren, Rico, Tony, Martina, Domingo, and Oesa, and his two great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride. Educated in San Diego, California, James devoted a year to his studies before embarking on a fulfilling career. He worked at Pantry Pride Supermarket in San Diego and Be-Lo Markets in South Norfolk, Virginia, and Greensboro, North Carolina. Later, he spent several years honing his skills as a welder in South Norfolk, Virginia. Throughout his career, James was respected for his work ethic and integrity. A man of faith, James was an active member of several Baptist churches across North Carolina and Virginia. His faith provided him with strength and a strong sense of community, which he cherished deeply. Outside of work and church, James found peace and happiness in the great outdoors, especially at the beach. He took pride in his self-taught skills, building a shed and a beautiful wrap-around deck at his home. Known for his dry humor, James had a unique way of bringing smiles to the faces of those around him. He cherished the time spent with his family, creating memories that will be treasured forever. A service celebrating James's life will be held on October 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Poplar Springs Baptist Church, located at 5270 Charles City Rd., Henrico, VA, 23231. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of their local Hospice for the care and support provided during James's final days. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in James's memory to a charity of your choice or a local Hospice organization, reflecting his spirit of giving and community support. James C. Vinesett will be remembered as a man of kindness, humor, and unwavering family devotion. His presence in our lives was a gift, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
