James Brian Pierce
March 9, 1965 — April 17, 2026
In the tender embrace of cherished memories and profound gratitude, we announce the peaceful passing of James Brian Pierce on April 17, 2026, at the age of 61. His departure from this world took place at Merit Health River Region Hospital, where he slipped away as gently as he lived, surrounded by love and in peace.
James was born on March 9, 1965, in Jackson, Mississippi, to parents James Randalph Pierce and Mary Katherine Hynum Pierce. His early years in Jackson were marked by a deep-seated love for family and community, traits that he carried with him throughout his life. He grew into a man whose heart was as expansive as it was kind, touching the lives of all those fortunate enough to know him.
James was a devoted husband to Tjajuan (TJ) Yvette Westmoreland Pierce, whose partnership was a testament to a love that was resilient and full of joy. Together, they nurtured a family that became the cornerstone of James's world. He was a proud father to three daughters: Jamie Katherine Barnes, who, along with her husband, brought immense pride and happiness to her father's life; Lacey Brianne Pierce, whose spirit and strength were a reflection of her father's own; and Cassie Ryane Pierce, who, with her husband, continued to build upon the legacy of love and family that James so treasured.
James's life was enriched by his five grandchildren, each a bright star in his universe. His role as a grandfather was one he cherished deeply, and his love will forever be a guiding light in their lives. He also leaves behind a robust network of siblings: brothers Tracey Scott Pierce (Debra), Jeffery Dwayne Pierce (April), and Tommy Allen Meridith (Crissy), who together shared in many of life's adventures, laughter, and familial bonds that time could not diminish.
James's legacy extends to numerous nieces and nephews, and a wider family circle, all of whom were touched by his unwavering kindness and generosity. His family is comforted in knowing that he is now reunited with his father, James Randalph Pierce, and his granddaughter, who predeceased him, in a place where love and peace abound.
Throughout his life, James was a man of simple joys and profound values. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his unwavering integrity, and his ability to bring warmth to any room. His passing leaves a space that can never be filled, but his spirit will forever be a part of those who loved him.
A service to honor James's life will be held on April 22, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by James are invited to join in a celebration of a life lived with love and purpose.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in James's memory to a charity close to your heart, reflecting his life of giving and compassion.
Though his physical presence will be deeply missed, the love and memories he leaves behind will continue to inspire and guide us. May he rest in eternal peace.
