Born on December 6, 1960, in Cambridge, Minnesota, Brian was the cherished son of James Charles and Margaret Ann Joyce. As the second of three children, he was deeply admired by his parents and younger brother, Keith, whom predeceased him.
Brian spent his formative years in Houston, where he graduated from high school. He began his career at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, dedicating 25 years to the company before seeking new horizons. Working with Groendyke Transport, Brian achieved the remarkable milestone of one million safe miles driven, a testament to his dedication and skill. He took pride in mentoring others as a trainer during his time there.
In a chance encounter at a truck stop, Brian's path took him to Walmart, where he spent eight rewarding years before health challenges necessitated his retirement. His departure was difficult, as he had hoped to conclude his career on his terms, a testament to his unwavering spirit and dedication.
Brian was a man of many passions. He found solace in the quiet pursuit of fishing, particularly during visits to his Uncle Raymond’s ranch, where he could spend entire weekends at the legendary "Monster Pond." He was a fair and honest man, known for his warmth and ability to connect with others. Brian was especially proud of his drag racing victories along FM 1960, a testament to his adventurous spirit.
Family was at the heart of Brian’s world. He was a devoted husband to Terri, his wife of 42 years, and a loving father to their son, Michael. His grandchildren, Mason, Grayson, and Carmen Olivia, were the light of his life. Brian and Grayson shared a special bond, spending countless hours discussing cars and trucks.
Brian is survived by his sister, Debra, and her husband, Donnie Kubeskie, of Houston, Texas. He leaves behind his beloved Aunt Edna Taitt of New Jersey, several cousins, and an extended family of cherished friends and neighbors who held him in high regard.
