It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of James Brian Haselden, who departed this world peacefully on March 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 9, 1937, in St. Helens, England, James was a man whose life was a testament to love, dedication, and artistic brilliance.
James was the beloved son of Winifred and John Haselden, who preceded him in death, along with his dear sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Sterry. He is survived by his devoted wife, Margaret, with whom he shared 60 wonderful years of marriage. Their union, which began on April 15, 1963, was a beacon of love and partnership, inspiring all who knew them.
James was a proud veteran, having served in the British Army from 1957 to 1959. His time in service was marked by camaraderie and a deep sense of duty that he carried with him throughout his life. Following his military service, James embarked on a remarkable 50-year career as an upholsterer, a craft he began mastering at the tender age of 15. His creative and artistic talents were evident in every piece he touched, leaving a lasting legacy of beauty and craftsmanship.
A man of faith, James was a longtime active member of St. Lawrence the Martyr Catholic Church in Santa Clara, CA. His involvement in the church community was a reflection of his deep spirituality and his commitment to serving others.
James was a man known for his infectious sense of humor, a trait that brought joy and laughter to everyone around him. His warmth and wit were matched only by his kindness and generosity. His family was his greatest treasure, and he cherished every moment spent with them. James is lovingly remembered by his children, Julie (Gary), Jennifer (Paolo), and David, and his seven grandchildren: Emma, William, Hadley, Tegan, Audrey, Daniel, and Charlie, who were his pride and joy.
A celebration of James’s life will take place on July 9, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, located in Santa Clara, CA. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by James are invited to join in honoring his remarkable life and legacy.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in James’s memory, a tribute to his generous spirit and his lifelong commitment to helping others.
