In Loving Memory

James Bret Pinkard
August 29, 1964 — October 2, 2026
James Bret Pinkard, known to many as Bret, passed away peacefully at his home on October 2, 2026. Born on August 29, 1964, in Santa Cruz, California, Bret grew into a man whose life was marked by dedication, love, and an unwavering spirit.
Bret was the son of Adrienne and Barry Brennan. He was predeceased by his father, R.L. Pinkard, and his father-in-law, Del Powell. His beloved wife, Deanna, with whom he celebrated 40 years of marriage, survives him. Their journey together began on August 9, 1986, in Keno, marking the start of a beautiful life filled with love and shared adventures. Bret was also surrounded by the warmth of his family, including his mother-in-law, Marchia Powell, sisters and their spouses Tom & Leanne Rose, Michael & Rani Campbell, and sisters Megan Ainsworth and Alisha Ainsworth. He was a proud uncle to thirteen nieces and nephews, and six great-nieces and nephews, with two more on the way.
Bret's career mirrored his steadfast nature. He dedicated nearly 29 years to Sevey Well Drilling, ensuring access to water across Klamath County. Most recently, he served as a Transportation and Maintenance Specialist for the Oregon Department of Transportation, a role he held until his passing.
Outside of work, Bret's life was rich with hobbies and interests. He was an avid sports enthusiast, cheering passionately for the Georgia Bulldogs, the Oregon Ducks, and the Mariners, often sharing these moments with his mother-in-law, Marchia. Bret found joy in the great outdoors, embarking on hunting and camping trips with his brothers-in-law, Michael and Tom. Though he might have preferred outdoor adventures, he also took pleasure in yard work alongside his wife when he absolutely had to.
Bret was a man of opinions, which he shared with honesty and humor, depending on the day. He was the fun uncle and the best babysitter, roles he embraced wholeheartedly, bringing laughter and joy to those around him.
A service to honor Bret's life will be held on October 10, 2026, at 1:00 PM at O'Hair-Wards Funeral Chapel, located at 515 Pine St. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Klamath Humane Society in memory of Bret's love for animals.
A private burial with family will take place at Keno Cemetery at a later date, where Bret will be laid to rest in the peaceful surroundings he cherished.
Bret's legacy is one of love, laughter, and a life well-lived. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.
