James is survived by his devoted wife, Denise, with whom he shared 16 wonderful years of marriage. His legacy lives on through his sons, Christopher (Kyla) and Grant Anderson, and his five treasured grandchildren: Kylee Prater, Chloe Anderson, Kassidy Leel, Jaxon Anderson, and the late Hunter Anderson. For over two decades, James was a dedicated employee at the Edmonton Stockyards, where he worked until its closure in May of 2005. His passion for the auction business led him to continue his career at the Viking Auction Market from 2008 until his retirement in 2024. His colleagues and friends at Viking Auction Market were an extended family to him, and he cherished every moment spent there.
James was a man of many interests and hobbies. He was an avid fan of the Edmonton Oilers, often cheering them on with the same enthusiasm he brought to all aspects of his life. A collector at heart, James had an impressive collection of comics, hats, and hobby cars that he meticulously curated over the years. His bright mind and loving, caring heart were evident in every interaction, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of James's life will be held on April 11, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Viking Auction Market, a place that held special meaning in his life. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Viking Auction Market for generously hosting this celebration of life, allowing family and friends to gather and honor James's memory in a place he dearly loved.
