With heavy hearts and profound respect, we announce the passing of James Anderson, whose vibrant presence left an indelible mark on those who had the privilege to know him. Born on September 30, 1952, in the picturesque city of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, James lived a life that was as colorful and full as the comics he loved to collect. On February 23, 2026, he passed away peacefully after an accident at home, surrounded by the love of his family and the comforting embrace of his hometown. James was the beloved son of the late Mildred and Brock Anderson, who instilled in him the values of kindness and resilience. He was predeceased by his brothers, Ernie and George Anderson, his brother-in-law, Dennis Crotty, and his cherished grandson, Hunter Anderson. Their memories are eternally etched in his heart. A devoted husband, James married Denise on December 20, 1980, and together they built a life filled with adventure, laughter, and enduring love. James was the proud father of two sons, Christopher (Kyla) and Grant Anderson, who inherited his unwavering spirit and compassionate nature. His legacy is further carried on by his sister, Rose (Roger) Marcy, and his nieces and nephews: Richard and Roy Marcy, Robyn Marcy, Kim Anderson, Terri Wright, Laurie Bascom, and Alexandra Marcy. James's heart was especially warmed by his five grandchildren, Kylee Prater, Chloe Anderson, Kassidy Leel, Jaxon Anderson, and the late Hunter Anderson, who brought him endless joy and pride. James dedicated his professional life to serving the community through his work at the Edmonton Stockyards from the early 1980s until its closure in May 2005. His career continued at the Viking Auction Market from 2008 until he retired in 2024. James’s colleagues and friends at the market remember him fondly for his bright mind and his unwavering dedication, qualities that earned him admiration and respect. Outside of his work, James was an avid fan of the Edmonton Oilers, his passion for the team bringing together family and friends for many memorable games. His love for collecting comics, hats, and hobby cars reflected his playful spirit and zest for life. James was a man of integrity, known for his loving and caring heart, which touched all who came into his orbit. A celebration of James Anderson's life will take place on April 11, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Viking Auction Market, a place that held great significance in his life. Family and friends would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Viking Auction Market for generously hosting this celebration of life, a fitting tribute to a man who gave so much to his community. In remembrance of James, let us honor his memory by cherishing the moments we have with our loved ones and living with the same joy and kindness that he exemplified every day.
