September 29, 1952 — February 22, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Anderson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, who departed this world on February 22, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on September 29, 1952, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, James lived a life rich with love, laughter, and dedication. James was the cherished son of Mildred and Brock Anderson, who predeceased him, along with his brothers Ernie and George Anderson, brother-in-law Dennis Crotty, and his beloved grandson, Hunter Anderson. Despite the sorrow of these losses, James found immense joy and fulfillment in the family he loved so dearly. He is survived by his devoted wife of 16 years, Denise, whom he married on December 20, 1980. Together, they built a life filled with warmth and happiness. A proud father, James leaves behind his sons Christopher (Kyla) and Grant Anderson, who continue to honor his legacy with their own growing families. James was a doting grandfather to five wonderful grandchildren: granddaughters Kylee Prater, Chloe Anderson, and Kassidy Leel, and grandsons Jaxon Anderson and the late Hunter Anderson. James was also a beloved brother to Rose (Roger) Marcy and an uncle to many nieces and nephews: Richard and Roy Marcy, Robyn Marcy, Kim Anderson, Terri Wright, Laurie Bascom, and Alexandra Marcy. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. His professional journey was marked by dedication and hard work. James began his career at the Edmonton Stockyards in the early '80s, where he remained until its closure in 2005. His passion for his work led him to the Viking Auction Market in 2008, where he proudly served until his retirement in 2024. It is fitting that his celebration of life will be held at this beloved location on April 11, 2026, at 13:00. James was an avid fan of the Oilers and had a keen interest in collecting comics, hats, and hobby cars. His hobbies reflected his vibrant personality, and he was known for his bright mind and loving, caring heart. These qualities endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Viking Auction Market for graciously hosting James's celebration of life. This gathering will honor a man whose kindness and spirit touched many lives. Family and friends are invited to come together in remembrance and appreciation for James's life and the indelible mark he left on this world. As we bid farewell to James Anderson, we celebrate a life well-lived and a legacy of love that will continue to inspire all who knew him. Rest in peace, dear James. Your memory will forever remain in our hearts.
