James Alexander Wellons, affectionately known as “Jimmy,” passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026, at the age of 63, in his beloved hometown of Baltimore, Maryland. Born on November 27, 1963, Jimmy’s life was a remarkable journey filled with resilience, creativity, and a deep devotion to family and community.
Jimmy was born to the late Robert Lee and Rosa Lee Wellons. He shared a special bond with his siblings and is survived by his brothers, Warren Nunnally, Roderick Nunnally, Jerome Wellons, and Albert Wellons, and sisters, Wendy Belle, Coretha Taylor, and Corrina Lynch. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Robin Johnson. Jimmy was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews, and a cherished friend to countless others, including his best friend, Billy Nelson.
Having received his early education in Plainfield and Newark, New Jersey, Jimmy developed the discipline and determination that shaped his character. In his youth, he became a Golden Glove boxer, admired for his strength, skill, and competitive spirit. His athletic talent was matched only by his creative mind and entrepreneurial spirit.
Jimmy later resided in California, forming meaningful friendships with well-known entertainers Todd Bridges from Diff’rent Strokes and Freddy Berry from What’s Happening!!. His ability to connect with people from all walks of life was one of his greatest gifts. A hardworking and resourceful man, Jimmy built his livelihood through cleaning pools, car washing, and various entrepreneurial ventures. His natural hustle and willingness to put in the work earned him respect and admiration wherever he went.
Jimmy loved playing chess and checkers, and he had a passion for helping others, always ready to lend a hand or share a moment of laughter. Family was everything to him, and he cherished every opportunity to spend time with those he loved. His warm smile, kind heart, and genuine spirit made him unforgettable.
Jimmy’s legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched, the love he shared, and the memories that continue to shine brightly in the hearts of his family and friends.
