In loving memory of James Alan McElhatten Jr., we celebrate the life of a remarkable man who touched the hearts of all who knew him. Born on February 11, 1982, in San Antonio, Texas, James graced this world with his gentle spirit and left it on May 14, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends. James was the beloved son of Margaret Huron and the late James Martin McElhatten. From a young age, he exhibited a compassionate nature, a trait that would define him throughout his life. His father, along with his cherished maternal and paternal grandparents, predeceased him but undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms in the afterlife. James's family was his world, and he found immense joy in the company of his son, Diego Anthony McElhatten, who was his pride and joy. The bond they shared was unbreakable, characterized by the love and guidance James imparted. He is also survived by his devoted mother, Margaret Huron, and his supportive stepfather, Paul Gonzales, who stood by him with unwavering support. His brother, John C McElhatten, and his extended family, including his Aunt Maggie, Uncle Warren Russel, niece Marissa Rodriguez, and great-nieces Adelyn and Emory, all held special places in his heart. James's family extended beyond bloodlines, and he shared a close bond with his first cousins, Lauren, Celaya, Heather Warden, Nicole Warden, Melissa Beasley, Candelaria Huron, Veronica Nunez, and Monica Aguilar. Each of them carries with them the warmth and love that he effortlessly radiated. A man of many interests, James had a passion for the beauty of the San Antonio River, where he often took leisurely walks, capturing its essence through his photography. He found joy in the kitchen, where he delighted his family with his culinary creations, crafting recipes infused with his love and creativity. James also had a deep appreciation for technology, spending time on his computer, exploring new ideas and connecting with loved ones. His love for his family was profound, always expressing his affection, often through heartfelt messages like "I Love You all and drive safely Goodbye," words that resonated with sincerity and care. Fittingly, his last words in this world, "I Love You all and Goodnight," were a testament to the love he shared throughout his life. James was known and remembered as a gentle and loving person. His kindness and compassion were evident to all who crossed his path. His gentle spirit will forever be missed but will live on through the lives he touched. A graveside service to honor and celebrate the life of James Alan McElhatten Jr. will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery Mausoleum, located at 2515 3rd St., Floresville, TX, on June 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to gather and pay their respects, sharing stories and memories that highlight the beautiful life James led.
