James A. Johnson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on February 16, 1953, James lived a life filled with love, dedication, and music. His journey touched the hearts of many, and he leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to his family and faith. James was born to the late Jimmy and Margaret Johnson, who instilled in him values of integrity and devotion that he carried throughout his life. He was predeceased by his parents, his first wife, Mary Johnson, and his son, Jaimie Johnson, whom he missed dearly. James is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years, Adrianne Johnson, who stood by his side through life's many seasons. Together, they created a loving family that became the center of their world. James was a proud father to his children, Lateesha, James, Andrea, Jason, and Helen, each of whom he cherished deeply. His warmth and guidance were a constant source of strength for them. A doting grandfather, James found immense joy in the laughter and smiles of his eight grandchildren: Jaylen, Jamarie, Anthony, Charisse, Jamie, Lauryn, Elena, and Elizabeth. He delighted in sharing stories and creating memories that will be treasured by them for years to come. James was a valued employee at ComEd for over 30 years, where he was known for his dedication and expertise. His colleagues remember him not only for his work ethic but also for his kindness and the genuine interest he took in the lives of those around him. A man of deep faith, James was a dedicated Jehovah's Witness for over 50 years. His spirituality was a guiding force in his life, providing him with strength and a sense of purpose. He was an active member of his congregation, where he made lifelong friendships and contributed to the community with his wisdom and compassion. Music was a vital part of James's life. A passionate bass guitarist, he found solace and expression in instrumental music. His love for being a musician was evident to all who knew him, and his talent brought joy to many. Whether playing in a band or enjoying a quiet moment with his guitar, music was his constant companion. James is also survived by his loving Aunt Rose Johnson and his cousin Diane Timmons, both of whom held a special place in his heart. James A. Johnson's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and faith. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his unwavering support for those he loved, and the beautiful melodies he brought into the world. His absence leaves a profound void, but his legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know him. A memorial service to celebrate James's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor the remarkable life he led and the indelible mark he left on their hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in James's name to a charity of your choice, reflecting his generous spirit and his desire to help others. May his soul rest in peace, and may his memory forever be a blessing.
