James A. Fara

June 29, 1940 — June 10, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of James A. Fara on June 10, 2026, at the age of 85. James left this world surrounded by the comfort of his home and the love of his family, concluding a brave battle with renal disease. Born on June 29, 1940, in Akron, Iowa, James was the cherished son of George and Bessie Fara. A proud veteran, James served his country with honor in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1967, reaching the rank of Sergeant. Following his military service, James embarked on a long and successful career as a Journeyman Carpenter with the Cincinnati Floor Company, dedicating 40 years to his craft. He also operated a farm, where he found immense joy in the simplicity and beauty of rural life. On December 29, 1967, James married the love of his life, Joanna M. Moritz, in Dayton, Ohio. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories, raising two wonderful daughters, Elizabeth (Beal) and Rebecca (Freimuth). Their bond was an inspiration to all who knew them, and their love endured for 54 beautiful years until Joanna's passing. James was predeceased by his beloved wife, Joanna, his dear sister Mary Ann Fara, his brother Orland Fara, and his identical twin brother, John Fara. He is survived by his loving daughters, Elizabeth and Rebecca, his devoted son-in-law, Joseph Beal, and his precious granddaughter, Rosetta Beal, who brought him boundless joy. A gentle and humble man, James found contentment in the tranquility of nature. He adored his companion cats and dogs, and was known for his tender care of the barn cats on the family farm. A skilled handyman, James took great pleasure in repairing anything from mechanical devices to carpentry projects, always eager to lend a helping hand to those in need. A memorial service to celebrate James's life will be held on July 14, 2026, at 10:00 AM in the Willow Room at Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum. The family invites all who knew and loved James to join them in honoring his memory and sharing stories of his kindness and generosity. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in James’s memory. They would also like to extend their deepest gratitude to his wonderful nurses, Kelly and Michelle, and his dedicated team at Ohio Valley Hospice for their compassion and care during James’s final days. James A. Fara will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, gentle spirit, and the love he bestowed upon his family and friends. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. Rest in peace, dear James. You will be profoundly missed.
