James A Constable

February 11, 1957 — February 3, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of James A. Constable, who left us peacefully on February 3, 2026, at the Center for Hospice after a courageous battle with pancreatitis cancer. Born on February 11, 1957, in Elkhart, Indiana, James' journey through life was marked by his unwavering dedication to family, service, and the joy of the open road. James was the cherished son of the late James D. Constable and Susan S. (Fader) Constable, who instilled in him the values of hard work and integrity. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Linda D. Constable, whom he married on July 3, 2000. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter until Linda's passing. James found immense joy and pride in his family, and his legacy lives on through his loving daughter, Courtney Davis, and his two adored grandchildren, Pheabi Bartoszewicz and David Kamp. His family was his greatest achievement and the source of his deepest happiness. A proud veteran of the United States Army, James served his country with honor, carrying his sense of duty and discipline into his civilian life. After completing his service, he returned to Elkhart to pursue his passion for mechanics and motorcycles. James was a master builder with a particular fondness for Indian Motorcycles. He transformed his garage into a haven where he spent countless hours breathing life into powerful machines, earning the admiration and gratitude of friends and family for his craftsmanship and generosity. James' love for freedom and the open road was infectious, and he shared this passion with all who knew him. His mechanical genius and dedication to his craft left an indelible mark on his community, where he was always willing to lend a hand or a wrench. Although his passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, James' spirit and love will endure in the hearts of those who knew him. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to everyone who provided exceptional care and support during James' final days. Your kindness and dedication brought comfort to James and his family in their time of need. A private funeral service will be held on February 6, 2026, in accordance with James' wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, as a tribute to James' generous spirit and his lifelong commitment to helping others. As we celebrate the life of James A. Constable, let us remember him as a devoted father, a loving husband, a proud grandfather, a skilled craftsman, and a dedicated veteran. His laughter, kindness, and unyielding love for his family and friends will forever be cherished and never forgotten.
