It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Rackley, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, who left this world on August 12, 2026, after a courageous battle with sickness. Born on October 10, 1939, in Raleigh, North Carolina, James lived a life full of love and laughter, leaving an indelible mark on everyone he met. James was predeceased by his cherished wife, Dorothy “Dot” Rackley, whom he married on June 15, 1975. Together, they forged a bond that withstood the test of time, raising their son, Steven Rackley, with unwavering devotion. Their home was always filled with warmth and joy, a testament to the love they shared. Throughout his life, James found immense joy in his family, including his three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. He was a man of simple pleasures, sharing his wisdom and kindness with all who knew him. James was a stalwart supporter of the community, and his generous spirit touched many lives. In his memory, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the American Heart Association, an organization close to his heart. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at St. Jude’s hospital for their compassionate care during James's final days. Their dedication and kindness provided comfort during a challenging time, and it is a gesture that will never be forgotten. In accordance with his wishes, a private funeral service will be held on August 28, 2026, at 9:00 AM. The family appreciates your understanding as they honor James in a manner befitting his quiet dignity. Though James is no longer with us, his legacy of love and resilience will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
