James A Kline

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James A. Kline, who left this world peacefully on September 28, 2026, at his cherished home in the presence of his beloved wife, Barb, and his devoted children, Kim,Michelle, and Jim. Born on June 1, 1943, in Minneapolis, MN, Jim was the cherished son of the late James H Kline and Evelyn M Kline (Kirsch). He was predeceased by his cherished grandson, Dylan G. Kline.
Jim's life was a tapestry of dedication, hard work, and love. A proud graduate of North High School in 1961, he went on to serve his country with distinction in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1991. He trained with the Navy Seabees and also the Navy Seals for that 30 years.
In 1964, Jim married the love of his life, Barbara L Kline (Foster), and together they built a beautiful life centered around family and adventure. Their union blessed them with three children: KimberlyA Case (Timothy),Michelle C Werries (David), James E Kline (Kimberly) and Jim's legacy continues through his seven grandchildren Ashley Martin (Trent) , Timothy P Case (Jason) Sierra Ross (Zek) Shelby Kline, Hailey Werries, and Garrett Case (Ryley) and three great-grandchildren, Adley Martin, Bentley Martin, and Hezekiah Ross. Each of whom he adored and took immense pride in.
A career in construction allowed Jim to leave a lasting mark on the world. From his humble beginnings with a hammer, he rose to become a superintendent, overseeing the creation of homes and iconic structures, including Target stores and Klein Banks. His crowning achievement was the construction of Nordstrom store- at the Mall of America.
Jim was a man of many interests and passions. His membership with the American Champlin Legion, where he served as Commander, and his involvement with the MSRA, where he and Barb showcased their beloved 23 T-bucket and 51 Pontiac Indian at car shows, reflected his commitment to community and camaraderie.
A lover of travel, Jim cherished the memories made on family camping trips to Backus, MN. In later years, he and Barb explored the United States in their 5th wheel and embarked on cruises to destinations like Alaska and South America. Through it all, his unwavering love for his family shone brightest, and he often boasted of their achievements to anyone who would listen.
Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters Mary Lou Martin, Robbie Newberg, Donna Jacobs, and Diane Knockney, along with numerous cousins and close friends. His presence will be sorely missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
A memorial service to celebrate Jim's life will be held on October 8, 2026, with visitation at 10:00 a.m., and service following at 11:00 at Servant of Christ Lutheran Church, 740 East Hayden Lake Rd., Champlin, MN 55316. A luncheon will follow the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in memory of Jim. The family would also like to extend their deepest gratitude to Americhoice of Champlin for their unwavering dedication and compassionate care during Jim's final days. Their kindness brought immense comfort to Jim family and his loved ones.
