In Loving Memory of Jamar “Marty” Thomas
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jamar Thomas, affectionately known as “Marty,” a cherished father, devoted friend, and dedicated public servant. He passed away peacefully at West Jefferson Hospital in New Orleans on December 10, 2025, due to injuries sustained in an accident. Jamar was 55 years old.
Shortly after being born in Honduras, Marty lived his life in New Orleans, where he was raised and became deeply rooted in the culture and community he loved.
Born on August 10, 1970, Jamar was the beloved son of the late of Robin Thomas. From a young age, his life was shaped by the rich culture and spirited energy of New Orleans, which he carried with him throughout his lifetime.
Jamar was a proud alumnus of Phoenix High School, graduating in 1990. His unwavering commitment to serving others led him to a distinguished 22-year career with the New Orleans Police Department. As an officer, Jamar exemplified bravery, integrity, and compassion, leaving a lasting impact on the community he served with honor and dedication.
Family was the cornerstone of Jamar’s life. Left to cherish his memory are his bonus children—Rayne, Chelsea, Housten, Vernae, Kareem, Chase, and Violet. To know Jamar was to understand his deep love for children; he made it his personal mission to guide, support, and show them a better path in life.
As we prepare for his cremation and the return of his remains to his motherland of Honduras, we honor not only his life but his journey and the legacy he leaves behind.
Cremation services were entrusted to James Funeral Home of Lake Charles and Lafayette, Louisiana.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Rest peacefully, Marty.
