It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jamar Thomas, a cherished father, devoted friend, and dedicated public servant, who passed away peacefully at West Jefferson Hospital in New Orleans on December 10, 2025, due to injuries sustained in an accident. Jamar was 55 years old.
Born on August 10, 1970, in the vibrant city of New Orleans, Jamar was the beloved son of the late Robin Thomas and Marty Addison. From a young age, his life was imbued with the rich culture and spirited energy of his birthplace, which he carried with him throughout his lifetime.
Jamar was a proud alumnus of Phoenix High School, graduating in 1990. His unwavering commitment to serving others led him to a distinguished 22-year career with the New Orleans Police Department. As an officer, Jamar exemplified bravery, integrity, and compassion, leaving a lasting impact on the community he deeply loved and served with honor and dedication.
Family was the cornerstone of Jamar's life. He is survived by his three cherished daughters, Rayne, Houston, and Violet, and his beloved stepson, Kareem Harris. Jamar was a guiding light to his family, and his legacy will continue through his three treasured grandchildren, who brought immense joy and pride to his life.
Jamar's life was a testament to resilience, love, and service. His infectious smile, gentle spirit, and unwavering kindness touched the lives of many, offering comfort and strength in times of need. He was a beacon of hope and a source of inspiration to all who knew him.
A service to celebrate the life of Jamar Thomas will be held on December 20, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church. Friends, family, and all whose lives he touched are warmly invited to join in remembrance and thanksgiving for Jamar's remarkable life.
Though his earthly journey has come to an end, Jamar's spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
