With deepest sorrow, we announce the untimely passing of our beloved son, Jamar Edward Mathis, on March 24, 2026, at the tender age of 16. Born January 6, 2010, in the vibrant city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Jamar was a beacon of light and joy to all who knew him. His life, though tragically brief, was filled with love, laughter, and a spirit that touched everyone around him. Jamar was the cherished son of Edward Mathis and Marketta Atkins, who nurtured him with boundless love and strength. His infectious laughter and radiant smile left an indelible mark on all who met him and will remain etched in the hearts of his family and friends. Known for his warm heart and kind soul, Jamar was always ready to lend a hand or offer comforting words. His compassion and empathy were wise beyond his years, and his presence was a gift to those fortunate enough to know him. A lover of learning, Jamar embraced every opportunity to expand his mind. His teachers and classmates remember him for his intelligence, eagerness to help others, and willingness to listen. Outside of school, he pursued various hobbies, finding joy and solace in his passions, which he shared with friends and family. Although his time with us was short, he lived a life rich with purpose and fulfillment. Though predeceased by loved ones who surely embrace him now, Jamar's legacy of love and kindness remains. We find comfort in the memories we shared and the love he spread during his short but meaningful life. His spirit will continue to inspire us to live with the same love and kindness he effortlessly shared with the world. Rest in peace, sweet Jamar. You will be profoundly missed, but your spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved you. A service to celebrate Jamar's life will be held on April 12, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Peels, located at Ekdiddj. We invite all who knew and loved Jamar to join us in honoring his memory.
