It is with the deepest sorrow and the heaviest of hearts that we announce the untimely passing of our beloved son, Jamar Edward Mathis, who left this world on March 24, 2026, at the tender age of 16. Born on January 6, 2010, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Jamar was a beacon of light, joy, and promise to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His life, though tragically cut short, was filled with love, laughter, and a spirit that touched all who crossed his path. Jamar was the cherished son of Edward Mathis and Marketta Atkins, who nurtured him with love, strength, and unwavering support. From his first moments in this world, Jamar brought immense happiness to his family and everyone around him. His laughter was infectious, and his smile could light up the darkest of rooms, leaving an indelible mark on all who met him. He leaves behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and community. Jamar was known for his warm heart and kind soul, always ready to lend a hand or offer a comforting word to those in need. His compassion and empathy reached beyond his years, and he was wise beyond his age. Jamar's life was filled with a love for learning and a curiosity about the world. Although his time in formal education was short, he embraced every opportunity to expand his mind and explore new ideas. His teachers and classmates remember him not only for his intelligence but for his eagerness to help others and his willingness to listen.
