It is with profound sorrow and heartfelt reverence that we announce the passing of Jalen Bristol, who departed this world on April 30, 2026, at the young age of 23. Jalen's life, though tragically short, was a vibrant testament to resilience, passion, and unwavering determination. Born on October 1, 2002, in Brooklyn, NY, Jalen's journey was marked by a spirit that touched all who had the privilege of knowing him. Jalen was the beloved son of Erica LeGall and Larry T. Bristol. From a young age, Jalen's energy and enthusiasm were infectious, shining brightly among his six siblings: Keshia LeGall, Myasia Robinson, Morgan Bristol, Tyshawn Walker, Infiniti Robinson, Dillon LeGall, and Devonte Bristol. He was the cherished grandson of Courtney LeGall and was surrounded by the love and support of numerous aunts, uncles, godparents, and cousins, including Angela LeGall-Morales, Alanna LeGall, Davinda LeGall, Raymond LeGall, Alvin Greene, Carlton LeGall, Karlton LeGall, Denise Brown, Karen Adams, Gregory Alphonso, and Shaun Bell. Jalen's educational journey took him from the bustling streets of Brooklyn to the welcoming communities of Georgia, where he spent his formative years. A gifted athlete, Jalen discovered a love for track and field during his time at Lithonia High School. Embracing the mantra "Track for Life," Jalen excelled in his sport, breaking records in the 400 meters and 800 meters, achievements that earned him a place at the prestigious 2019 State Championships and the 2019 AAU National Junior Olympics. His dedication and perseverance led him to achieve All-American status, a testament to his hard work and determination. Beyond the track, Jalen's intellectual curiosity and competitive spirit were evident in his passion for chess and debate. He was a Chess Champion in 2008 and a Middle School Debate Champion in 2009, accomplishments that highlighted his sharp mind and eloquence. His love for these pursuits was matched only by his kindness and generosity, qualities that endeared him to everyone he met. Despite the challenges he faced, including a move to Georgia with his mother and brother, Jalen remained steadfast in his pursuits, transitioning smoothly from Hull Middle School to Lithonia Middle School, and eventually Southwest Dekalb High School for his senior year. Jalen's life was tragically cut short by a fatal gunshot wound, a loss deeply felt by his family, friends, and community. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his memory will forever be cherished by those whose lives he touched. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Jalen's life, in keeping with the family's wishes. As we say goodbye to Jalen, let us remember him not for the brevity of his years, but for the depth of his impact and the light he brought into our lives.
