It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jake James Pellegrin, a beloved son, brother, and friend, who left us too soon on April 5, 2026, at the age of 30. Born on October 23, 1995, in Bethesda, Maryland, Jake’s life was a testament to courage, dedication, and an infectious zest for life that touched everyone he met.
Jake was the cherished son of Michele Elaine Mudd and a devoted brother to Ashely Pellegrin, Cameron Pellegrin, and Elizabeth Chubb. From an early age, Jake exhibited a passion for sports, excelling as a two-sport athlete in football and baseball during his time at IMG Academy. His athletic prowess was matched only by his academic dedication, which he carried forward to Penn State University.
Driven by an unwavering sense of duty, Jake dedicated his entire adult life to serving his country. He joined the U.S. Army, where he distinguished himself as a Ranger in the 75th Ranger Regiment before transferring to the Air Force as a JTAC operator. His military career was marked by numerous medals and accolades, reflecting a commitment to excellence and bravery that inspired all who served alongside him.
Beyond his military achievements, Jake was a man of diverse interests and gentle humor. He had a profound love for the outdoors, particularly the tranquility of fishing and the art of photography. His dream was to retire by a river in Florida, capturing the beauty of wildlife through his camera lens and enjoying the simplicity of nature’s gifts.
Jake had an extraordinary ability to light up any room, with a smile that was as infectious as his laughter. He had a unique gift for making others feel valued and brought joy and warmth to those around him, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of family and friends.
Despite the battles he faced, Jake’s courage and kindness shone brightly. His untimely passing is a stark reminder of the challenges faced by so many veterans. Jake’s family hopes that his story will bring awareness to the importance of mental health support for those who serve.
A celebration of Jake’s life will be held on April 8, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Haugen Cemetery, 20 Garden Bay Ct, Miramar Beach, FL 32550. Friends, family, and those whose lives he touched are invited to join and honor the remarkable life of a man who gave so much to those around him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jake’s memory to organizations supporting veterans’ mental health, ensuring that others receive the care and support they need.
Jake James Pellegrin will be remembered for his bravery, his love for life, and his unwavering dedication to his loved ones and his country. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to inspire and guide us all.
