In Loving Memory

Jake Healy Hennessy
August 18, 2010 — May 25, 2026
It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the untimely passing of our beloved Jake Healy Hennessy, who departed this world on the 25th of May, 2026, at the tender age of 15. Born on the 18th of August, 2010, in the vibrant city of Cork, Ireland, Jake was a cherished son, a loyal friend, and a joyful soul who brought laughter and warmth to everyone he encountered.
Jake was the beloved son of Paul Healy and Mary Hennessy, who raised him with love and kindness. From a young age, Jake's vivacious spirit and infectious humour were evident to all who knew him. He had a natural ability to make others laugh, and his presence was always a source of joy and light.
His formative years were spent at Blarney Street C.B.S., and he was continuing his education at the North Monastery Co-Educational Secondary School, where he was a 3rd Year student. Jake was a bright student who excelled in his studies and was known for his dedication and enthusiasm.
Jake had a passion for sports, particularly football and boxing, and he enjoyed spending his days outdoors, surrounded by friends. He was a member of the North Cathedral, where he was baptised, and his faith was an important part of his life.
Although Jake did not hold employment at the time of his passing, he gained valuable experience working with his uncle, Olan Collins, at O.C Plumbing & Heating Solutions. Jake had a keen interest in learning and was always eager to lend a helping hand.
Tragically, Jake's life was cut short in a heartbreaking accident. On that fateful day, while enjoying a sunny afternoon with his friends Jack Murphy, Darragh Cummins, Jake O’Donovan, Leon O’Driscoll, Rhys Green, and Evan Strange at Lee Fields in Cork, Jake bravely leapt into the River Lee. Despite his friends' efforts and those of two men and a woman at the scene, the river's current proved too strong, and Jake was unable to return to safety. He passed away at 16:09, leaving a void in the hearts of all who loved him.
Jake is preceded in death by his grandfather, Michael Hennessy, who undoubtedly awaits him with open arms. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known him.
A service to celebrate Jake's life will be held on the 28th of May, 2026, at 19:30, at Coughlan’s Funeral Home, located at 88/89 Shandon Street, Cork City, Ireland. Family and friends are invited to gather and pay their respects to a young man who was taken too soon but will never be forgotten.
His family wishes to extend a special message: "Jake will forever be in our hearts. He died an unexpected death at a very young age. He will be missed terribly."
In this time of great sorrow, we find solace in the cherished memories of Jake's life, a life filled with laughter and love. May his spirit continue to inspire us all, and may he rest in peace, knowing he was deeply loved.
