Jaime James Lim, Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on February 8, 1948, at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines, Jaime was the cherished son of the late Alfred E. Lim, Sr. and Socorro Y. Lim. His life was a tapestry of dedication to family, service, and community, leaving a legacy of love and laughter that will be cherished by all who knew him. Jaime's journey began in the vibrant surroundings of the Philippines, where he was born into a family that instilled in him the values of loyalty and compassion. He moved to the United States, where he graduated from Berkeley High School in January 1966. Jaime furthered his education at institutions such as the California Maritime Academy, Trinity University, UCLA, and Harvard Business School, acquiring a wealth of knowledge that he applied throughout his varied and successful career. A proud veteran, Jaime served in the US Navy Air Reserves and on active duty aboard the USS Coral Sea CVA43 during the Vietnam War. He bravely flew missions to Da Nang Airbase, Vietnam, and Cubi Point Navy Airbase in the Philippine Islands from 1967 to 1969, earning an honorable discharge for his service. His commitment to his fellow veterans continued throughout his life, as he became a lifetime member of the USA Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and served as District 17 Adjutant, supporting 24 posts and 6,000 members. Jaime also dedicated 13 years as the first Mentor of the Placer County Veterans Treatment Court. Jaime's professional life was equally distinguished. After his military service, he embarked on a fruitful career with Pacific Bell/AT&T, where he worked in operations and engineering for 23 years. He then took on the role of Regional Sales Manager with Positron Public Safety Systems in Montreal, Canada, for 13 years, before serving as Vice President at Hitech Systems in Los Angeles. He retired in 2012, having made significant contributions to each organization he was part of. On May 3, 1969, Jaime married the love of his life, Emilia (Mely) Soriano, at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in San Francisco. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around their family. Jaime is survived by his devoted wife, Emilia, and their children: Jaime Lim Jr., Jason C. Lim and his wife Brigit, and Melanie S. Lim (Ivanov) and her husband Vadem Ivanov. He was a proud grandfather to Aiden Lim, Meilani Ivanov, Isaiah Lim, and Gabriel Lim. Jaime's siblings, Alfred Lim, Jr. and his wife Judy, Lillian Lim and her husband Mac Amos, and Chris Lim and his wife Lorraine, also survive him. They remember him as a brother who brought joy and laughter into their lives with his quick wit and unfailing kindness. A man of deep faith, Jaime was a dedicated Lector and Reader at Saint Clare Catholic Church, where he was a guiding light for over 8,000 parishioner families. His contributions to his church community were immeasurable, and he found solace and strength in his faith. Jaime was also an avid golfer, a passion that took him to courses across the globe. His love for the sport was matched by his impressive achievement of seven lifetime holes-in-one, a testament to his skill and dedication. In retirement, he enjoyed serving as a golf course marshal at several local courses in Roseville, CA, where he made many lasting friendships. Above all, Jaime was a man devoted to his family. His warmth, generosity, and unwavering loyalty created a home filled with love and laughter. He placed his family as his highest priority, leaving behind a legacy of love that will endure in the hearts of his loved ones. A funeral service to celebrate Jaime's remarkable life will be held at Saint Clare Catholic Church on Junction Blvd, Roseville, CA. He will be laid to rest with military honors at the Sacramento Valley National Veterans Cemetery in Dixon, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Saint Clare Catholic Church in Roseville, CA, in memory of Jaime's enduring faith and commitment to his community. Jaime James Lim, Sr. will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his boundless generosity, and the joy he brought into the lives of all who knew him. His memory will be cherished by his family, friends, and community, and his legacy will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
