Jacqueline Sue Parmer Cortez, a cherished wife, devoted mother, and beloved grandmother, was born on October 5, 1949, in Beech Grove, Indiana. She peacefully departed this world on July 1, 2026, surrounded by love and warmth. Jackie’s life was a testament to her unwavering faith, kindness, and dedication to her family and community.
The daughter of Robert Franklin Henry and Loretta Jane Bellows Henry, Jackie grew up with a deep spiritual foundation. She began attending Faith Assembly Church at a young age, where she found her calling as a true disciple of the Lord. Her faith guided her throughout her life, and she became a prayer warrior and spiritual counselor to many.
Jackie was predeceased by her mother, Loretta Jane Henry, her beloved brother, James Bradley Monson, and her former husband, Jack Eugene Parmer. She is survived by her devoted husband of 13 years, John E. Cortez, who stood by her side with unwavering love and support.
Her legacy lives on through her sons, Craig Monson (Kristina) and Mark Monson (Somlee), who carry forward the values and warmth she instilled in them. Jackie was a proud and loving grandmother to six grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She is also survived by her siblings, Kennith E. Parmer, Michael W. Parmer, Lorraine K. Kurpis (Daniel), and Robert A. Henry, as well as her cherished niece, Abigail, and nephews, Nathan, Mathew, Vincent, and Andrew.
Jackie’s journey through life was marked by her passion for beauty and education. After graduating from Southport High School in 1967, she pursued a successful career as a hairstylist. She was not only an exceptional salon owner in Indiana and Miami, Florida, but she also competed in hair competitions, garnering numerous awards for her creativity and skill. Her expertise was recognized at the highest levels, and she became a traveling educator for a prestigious hair product line.
In her 70s, Jackie’s thirst for knowledge led her back to school, where she achieved her Bachelor’s degree in Religion from Liberty University in 2025. She was also ordained as a minister of the gospel in 2019 and earned several certificates in Christian counseling, further enriching her ability to guide and support others.
Jackie’s love for music was profound. She found immense joy in worship music, often sharing her talent by singing and playing the piano. Her voice and spirit uplifted those around her, creating a sense of peace and unity.
Her life was a testament to her deep roots in faith and her influence on countless individuals. Jackie’s legacy is one of love, devotion, and spiritual guidance. Her memory will continue to inspire all who knew her.
