Jacqueline M. Warren

April 18, 1939 — September 14, 2026

Jacqueline Preston Warren, affectionately known as Jackie, passed away peacefully following a brief hospital stay, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and generosity. Born on April 18, 1939, in South Bend, Indiana, Jackie was the cherished daughter of Henry R. and Maggie D. Preston Sr. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents; her sisters, Barbara Gordon and Wanda I. (Sylvester) Williams Jr; and her brothers, Henry R. (Maxine) Preston, Jr., Terry Preston, and Darrell Preston. She is survived by her loving children, Kimberly (Ricky) Erby and Duane (Kimberlie) Warren; her grandchildren, Shammon (Elliott) Sanders, Duane II (Apryll) Warren, Austin Erby, and Aisha Erby; and her great-grandchildren, Duane Warren III, Austin Erby Jr., Laithyn Warren, Tymire White, Clarke Rouse, and Braylin Sanders. She is also survived by her brother Warren (Cynthia) Preston and her dear friend Ora Dean Moore. Jackie was married to Grayson R. Warren, Jr., (who preceded her in death) and they had two wonderful children. She was a graduate of Central High School and dedicated her career to nurturing young minds. Her journey as a caregiver began at ICU Ministries & Daycare, where she was the lead caregiver/teacher, working alongside her sister and best friend, Sis. Wanda Williams. Later, she became a vital part of Kingdom Christian Church Daycare, contributing to the growth and development of countless children. Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She and her siblings were early members of St. Augustine Church, and she later became an active participant in the services and events at ICU Ministries. Most recently, Jackie joined Olivet AME Church, where her presence was felt long before her official membership. Her involvement in the church community was a testament to her unwavering faith and dedication. A woman of many talents, Jackie enjoyed crocheting and would often share this hobby with her mother and Aunt Mabel Landry during their weekly crochet gatherings. She was an avid reader, with her Bible being her most treasured book. Jackie was also a devoted sports fan, passionately cheering for her Notre Dame football team. Jackie's greatest joy came from caring for her family and the children at the daycare, whom she affectionately referred to as her "little darlings". Her quick wit, warm smile, and kind heart endeared her to everyone she met, making each person feel valued and welcomed. A service to honor Jackie’s life will be held on September 25, 2026, viewing at 10:00 A.M., with service to begin at 11:00 A.M. at Olivet AME Church, 719 N Notre Dame Ave. South Bend, Indiana 46617. As we bid farewell to Jackie, we are comforted by her belief in a place of perfect peace, where she will be reunited with loved ones who have gone before. Her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift all those who were blessed to know her.
