Jacqueline Gertrude Cornillie, affectionately known as Jackie, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 13, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan, Jackie’s life was a testament to the enduring power of love, family, and community. Jackie was the beloved daughter of Albert Julius Cornillie and Isabelle Josephine Spitzer, who predeceased her. She was also preceded in death by her sister Kathy Brewer, neice Elizabeth Brewer and cherished grandson, Steven Hernandez. Despite these profound losses, Jackie’s spirit remained resilient, ever fortified by the love and support of her surviving family members. She leaves behind a legacy of love in her children, Kristina Kelley and her partner Mike Pierce, and James Kelley and his wife, Jacqueline Kelley. Jackie was a proud grandmother to Brittany Johnson, Tyler Miskell, and a doting great-grandmother to Shay and RJ Johnson, who brought immense joy to her life. Her sisters, Claudia Cornille-Watters and Maria Ross also survive her, cherishing the memories and bonds they shared. Jackie’s life was vibrantly enriched by her love for Michigan sports. An ardent supporter of teams across the state, she was a fixture at games, always ready to cheer passionately for football, basketball, baseball, and hockey teams alike. Her enthusiasm for sports was more than just a pastime; it was a way of life. Jackie found profound joy in the camaraderie and excitement of game days, sharing her love for the teams with family and friends. Whether celebrating a victory or reflecting on a hard-fought game, she relished every moment with a fervor that was contagious to those around her. Jackie's devotion to Michigan’s rich sports culture extended beyond the games themselves; it was about the shared experiences, the sense of community, and the unwavering support she gave to her teams, echoing the same love and commitment she showed to her family and friends. Her warmth, generosity, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Jackie lived her life with grace and kindness, and her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those she touched. As we say goodbye to Jackie, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments. May her spirit continue to inspire us all, and may we find comfort in the legacy she leaves behind—a legacy of unwavering support, love, and a passion for life. A private family service will be held to honor Jackie’s memory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local sports organization or charity of your choice, in celebration of Jackie’s enduring love for the games that brought her so much joy.
