Jacqueline D. McCoy, affectionately known as Jackie, was born on April 23, 1952, in the warm embrace of Jasper County, Georgia. She peacefully departed this life on September 1, 2026, after a courageous and graceful battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of her family and the comforts of her home. Jackie was the beloved daughter of Marie Jordan Stephens and John Henry Stephens. She was preceded in death by her cherished siblings: brothers Willam R. Stephen, J.C. Stephens, J.H. Stephens, Frank Stephens, Johnny "Pee Wee" Stephens, and Jessie P. Stephens, as well as her sisters Mary Ethel "Sister" Stephens, Jeanette Stephens Henderson, and Elizabeth "Liah" Stephens. Jackie is survived by her devoted sister, Gloria Stephens, and her brother, George Stephens, who will forever hold her memory dear. A loving mother to her son Travis F. Smith, Jackie carried her nurturing spirit into her role as a grandmother to five and a great-grandmother to three. Her family was the center of her world, and she found immense joy in watching them grow and thrive. Jackie shared a part of her journey with Michael McCoy, to whom she was married until 1980. Her educational pursuits took her through the Jasper County and Newton County school systems, where she developed a love for learning that continued with some college studies in the data processing field and numerous certifications in healthcare. Jackie's professional life was marked by her dedicated service at Covington Manor, where she spent many years contributing to the well-being of others. Her colleagues and those she cared for will remember her kindness and unwavering commitment. Beyond her professional achievements, Jackie found delight in life's simple pleasures. She enjoyed lively visits to casinos and cherished family cookouts, but she was equally content in the peace of her home, where she devotedly cleaned and organized her surroundings. Her genuine warmth and love for children were evident in her role as a godmother to many, touching the lives of countless goddaughters and godsons with her nurturing presence. Jackie's family requests that any donations in her honor be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting her generous and giving spirit. Jackie McCoy leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and compassion. Her life was a testament to the power of resilience and the beauty of a heart filled with love for family and friends.
