With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jacqueline Brown, affectionately known to all as Jackie, who departed this life peacefully on May 17, 2026, following a courageous battle with diabetes. Jackie was born on February 1, 1950, in Kingstree, South Carolina, to the late Leroy and Chanie Brown. Her life's journey, filled with love, laughter, and generosity, has left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Jackie is predeceased by her beloved parents, her sister Mary Shaw, and her brothers Roscoe and Barry Brown. She is survived by her loving siblings, brother Rogerlee (and wife Millicent), and sister Bobbie, who will cherish her memory forever. Her legacy lives on through her nieces Minerva, Kimberly, and Sonia; her nephews Prescott, Larry, Hayward Jr., and Roger II; and a multitude of great-nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who were touched by her kindness and infectious spirit. A proud alumna of the West Philadelphia High School Class of 1967, Jackie dedicated her professional life to CIGNA, where she worked diligently from the time of her graduation. Her colleagues remember her as a beacon of warmth and dedication, a testament to her unwavering work ethic and commitment. Jackie's deep-rooted faith began at an early age when she accepted Christ and was baptized at Fellowship Baptist Church. She later found a spiritual home at St. Matthew AME Church, where her vibrant presence and uplifting spirit were felt by all. Jackie had an adventurous spirit and a zest for life that took her around the world. She relished in her travels, visiting numerous countries with the aspiration of setting foot on every continent. Her wanderlust was matched only by her talent in the kitchen, where she was renowned for her delectable cakes, eagerly anticipated and fondly remembered by those lucky enough to indulge in her culinary creations. A creative soul, Jackie found joy in crafting and needlepoint, a passion she pursued until her eyesight waned. Her quick wit and penchant for sharing corny jokes were complemented by an infectious laugh that could light up any room. Though she never married, Jackie embraced the role of "Auntie" to many, offering love and generosity to all who crossed her path. Her legacy is one of warmth, humor, and an unwavering commitment to the happiness of others. A celebration of Jackie's life will be held on June 3, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Wharton Wesley United Methodist Church, located at 54th & Catherine Streets, Philadelphia, PA 19143. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by her are invited to join in honoring and remembering this remarkable woman. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jackie's memory to organizations supporting diabetes research, ensuring that her fight contributes to a future free of this disease. As we say goodbye to Jackie, let us carry forward her legacy of love, laughter, and generosity, forever enriched by the light she brought into our lives.
