Jacob Colby Lewis, a beloved son, friend, and community member, passed away on September 4, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Born on July 4, 1992, in Asheville, North Carolina, Jacob was a beacon of joy and an inspiration to all who knew him. He was the only son of Thomas Jerry Lewis and the late Angie Lewis, and he shared an unbreakable bond with his family, which he treasured above all else. Jacob's early years were marked by his adventurous spirit and a keen sense of curiosity, which led him to excel in the Boy Scouts of America, achieving the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout. His commitment and dedication to the values of the Scouts shaped the man he became, one who was always ready to lend a helping hand and touch the hearts of those around him. A proud graduate of New Hanover High School in Wilmington, North Carolina, Jacob carried his love for learning and adventure into his adult life. He spent several years working at Walmart in Porters Neck, where his infectious smile and genuine kindness left an indelible mark on both coworkers and customers alike. He also worked at Hardee’s and briefly at Food Lion, where he was known for his work ethic and positive attitude. Jacob's interests were as varied as they were passionate. A lover of the outdoors, he found peace in fishing, where he could connect with nature and enjoy the quiet beauty of the world around him. He was also an avid fan of mixed martial arts, a WWE fanatic, and a devoted Carolina Panthers supporter, never missing a chance to cheer for his favorite team. His enthusiasm for sports extended to his impressive collection of football and baseball cards, which he gathered with the same dedication and care he gave to everything in his life. Despite the challenges he faced, including the loss of his mother, Angie Lewis, his aunt, Rosemary Tovar, and his cousin, Cody McCurley, Jacob's spirit remained unbroken. He was a source of strength and comfort to his father, Thomas Jerry Lewis, and to all those who were fortunate enough to know him. His ability to connect with others and his genuine kindness were his greatest gifts, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he met. The Lewis family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated doctors and nurses at Novant Hospital ICU for their compassionate care and support during Jacob's final days. In honor of Jacob's memory, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, embracing the spirit of giving that Jacob embodied throughout his life. Jacob Colby Lewis will be remembered for his warmth, his unwavering loyalty, and his ability to make everyone feel valued and loved. Though he may be gone, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, forever our beloved son, friend, and Eagle Scout.
