JD was the beloved son of David and Marie Willett, who predeceased him. The values they instilled in him were evident throughout his life as he exemplified hard work, compassion, and generosity. JD's journey took him from the quiet charm of Hardy to a life full of cherished adventures and accomplishments. A loving husband, JD was married to his soulmate, Pat, for an extraordinary 65 years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Pat was not just his wife but his confidante and best friend, sharing in every joy and triumph, and weathering every storm with unwavering support. JD was also a devoted father to his two daughters, Elizabeth Willett of Mechanicsville and Suzanne Willett of Richmond, Virginia. He took immense pride in his daughters, nurturing them with wisdom and love, and always encouraging their dreams. His legacy lives on through them, as they carry forward his values and spirit. JD's warmth and generosity extended far beyond his family. He was a man who believed in giving back to his community and supporting those in need. In his memory, the family kindly suggests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, an organization close to JD's heart. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor JD's life. His family appreciates the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time, and they take comfort in the many lives JD touched through his kindness and generosity.
